Pilot for LID Approved!

green-main-st-logoThe Pilot Design for Low Impact Design in Englewood has been approved by the Sarasota County Commissioners, and efforts toward soon proclaiming Dearborn Street as the "First Green Mainstreet in Florida have begun.

Working cooperatively with private sector professionals, Sarasota County staff, the CRA Advisory Board, New College of Florida and SWFWMD, the goal is to quantify, qualify and implement the principles of water management to promote higher quality standards while offering re-use potential for irrigation
and infill, private development.

Anticipating the LID Draft Manual to be a future adjunct to the Storm Water codes through this project's research and design solutions, for the very first time these methodologies would be viable to a level of certainty to be permittable. Better development practices could be realized throughout all counties within the SWFWMD watersheds, to encourage our generation and those to come to be better stewards of our natural resources and hydrology.

Sustainable Learning Center
A Sustainable Learning Center is being formed to engage the public through educational seminars and displays. Concurrently,  the Olde Englewood Village Association will soon be following the work through an educational tab on this website www.oldeenglewood.com. Bookmark this site to keep up to date on our progress, as well as all the wonderful events in the area.
