The Arts Alliance of Lemon Bay Congratulates Don Cioffi Artist of the Month for April 2011
Don Cioffi, Woodturning Artist started turning wood about twelve years ago when he met a local wood turner who not only inspired him, but also took his valuable time to instruct Don.
The type of turning Don does is segmented turning. Several pieces are cut and glued together to form a ring and then the rings are glued together and turned into a specific shape. He uses a variety of woods such as maple, walnut, cherry, mahogany and ash. In addition, Don incorporates more exotic woods like ebony, rosewoods, ipe, and many others.
